Finland's leading news and information source in English now available on mobile
Jun 2009
Helsinki Times - known for its weekly newspaper and comprehensive website - has recently launched a mobile service, making it easier for people with limited skills in Finnish to follow what is happening in Finland even while they are on the move. The service - m.helsinkitimes.fi - is realized with Sendandsee's mobiprint™ platform and it is currently ad-funded.
Helsinki Times is the first weekly newspaper in Finland which provides a reliable and much-needed source of news and information about Finland in English. In addition to domestic and international news, it includes a review of Finnish newspapers and magazines, as well as articles concerning Finland published in the international press.
Helsinki Times' readership includes mainly foreigners working in Finland, professionals and diplomats stationed in Finland as well as their families. In addition the readership includes people visiting the country on business or vacation, as well as everyone around the world with a special interest in Finland and the news related to it. According to the survey Helsinki Times has about 30,000 readers a week who represent over 20 different nationalities.
"The Finnish society has experienced a very rapid internationalization process - during the last two decades our country has become much more open, international, European nation; a welcome change for everyone. As a part of that process it is important that non-natives develop their own media thus developing the local media culture further." says Jorma Kario, one of Sendandsee's founders. "We want to be involved in making the success story of Helsinki Times even bigger."
